Terms of Use

Last updated 21 September 2026

1. Who we are

Hardwood Trading (“we”, “us”) is operated by support@hardwood-trading.com. These terms apply when you use the Hardwood Trading website and installable web app (the “service”). By using the service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

2. Education only — not financial advice

Hardwood Trading is an educational tool for practicing chart reading. Nothing on the site — lessons, practice charts, statistics, accuracy or “edge” figures, or any other content — is financial, investment or trading advice, a recommendation to buy or sell anything, or an offer of any financial product. We are not a broker, investment firm or financial adviser and we don't give trading signals.

The charts are historical. Percentages and results we show describe what happened in our past samples; they are not a forecast, a promise or a guarantee, and your results will differ. Trading crypto assets carries a real risk of loss. Make your own decisions and don't risk money you can't afford to lose. Please also read the Risk warning.

3. Who can use it

You must be at least 18. One account is for one person. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in email secure and for what happens under your account.

4. Accounts and free access

Your first lesson is open to everyone. Further lessons, Practice and the Chart of the Day need a free account. Free accounts have limits, such as a daily number of practice cards and a limited number of hearts. What is free and what is paid is shown on the Pricing page.

5. Paid plans, prices and taxes

We offer Pro (billed monthly or yearly), Lifetime (a single payment) and chip packs (one-off purchases). Paid plans and chip packs are sold once payments are switched on. The price you pay is shown on the Pricing page and again before you pay, in real currency. It includes any VAT or sales tax we are required to charge where you live, or shows it separately, so there are no surprises at checkout.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your contract for a paid item starts when your payment succeeds and we confirm it by email. We may refuse or cancel an order if we suspect fraud or a pricing error.

6. Subscriptions and renewal

Pro renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel. We'll email you before a yearly plan renews. You can cancel at any time from your account; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for and we won't charge you again. Cancelling is never harder than subscribing was.

If we change the price of your plan, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.

7. Lifetime

“Lifetime” means access to Pro for as long as Hardwood Trading is operated — not for the lifetime of the buyer. It includes the tables and features we add to Pro while the service runs. If we ever decide to close the service we'll give at least 90 days' notice.

8. Chips

Chips are a virtual in-app item with no cash value. They can only be spent inside Hardwood Trading (heart refills and streak freezes), can't be transferred, sold or exchanged for money, and don't expire. Chips never unlock practice or content by themselves; that is what Pro is for. The real-currency price of every chip pack is shown before you buy.

9. Your right to cancel and refunds

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK you have a 14-day right to withdraw from a paid purchase without giving a reason, subject to the conditions in our Cancellation & refunds page, which forms part of these terms. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have by law.

10. Leaderboard

Signed-in accounts appear on the leaderboard under a nickname they choose. We may remove or change nicknames that are offensive, misleading or impersonate others. Scores are reported by each player's browser, so the board is for fun and has no prizes. Don't cheat or tamper with scores; we may remove entries or accounts that do.

11. Acceptable use

Don't use the service for anything illegal, to abuse other users, to attack or overload it, or to scrape, copy, resell or redistribute the lessons, charts and answers without permission.

12. The service and changes

We work hard to keep Hardwood Trading running and accurate, but we provide it as-is, with no guarantee of uninterrupted availability. We may improve, change or remove features and content. If we change a paid feature in a way that makes it materially worse, we'll tell you and you can cancel and, where the law says so, get a refund for the unused time.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and will tell you why unless the law stops us.

13. Your content and data

Your practice results and lesson progress are yours. We use them to run your account as described in the Privacy Policy.

14. Intellectual property

The Hardwood Trading name, lesson content, diagrams, artwork (including M8) and code are © 2026 Hardwood Trading. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the service for your own learning. Don't reproduce or redistribute the content without permission.

15. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any trading losses or other financial loss arising from your use of the service or any decision you make. Nothing here excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights. If you are a consumer, the service must match its description; if it doesn't, you have the remedies your local consumer law gives you.

16. Law and complaints

If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country. Otherwise these terms are governed by the law of the country where the operator is established. To complain, write to us first (see Contact); we'll reply within 14 days.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll update the date above and, for accounts, tell you before it applies. If you keep using the service after that, you accept the new terms.
